He has served the department in the capacity of Public Information Officer for more than a decade. During his tenure with the Charlotte Fire Department he has been decorated with the J.B. Earley firefighter of the year award, the CFD meritorious service award, and the Higgins/Langley award for flood response during the 2005 Hurricane season. Before joining the CFD Rob served our country in the United States Air Force as a field medic. He has an Associates Degree in Fire Science Technology from Central Piedmont Community College and is an instructor for the North Carolina Emergency Management Basic Public Information Officer course. Rob is a member of the National Information Officer’s Association, the International Association of Firefighters, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. CFD utilizes Skype video conferencing for live media interviews and press briefings.
